WAHOO – IT’S THE FINAL STRETCH Here we are: ballots hit our mail boxes this week! Now let’s double-down in our contacts to Republicans to get out their votes, and to I’s and soft D’s to vote for Bowerman. Given our voting patterns in Clark County, this is our time for influence because most voters keep their ballots on the coffee table for a week or two. As I said in the last newsletter, we won’t let up for a Campaign Minute!
However you wish to pitch in yet again, I need your help and will appreciate it – last chance for letters to the editor, a zoom meet n’ greet with your friends, doorbelling with no-contact “slim jim” drops (there are two particular precincts where we especially need to go now), sign waving, and your social media on fire for getting out the R vote and to vote Bowerman for County Council!
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT IN CLARK COUNTY? QUICK RUN-DOWN OF SOME POSITIONS HELD BY MY OPPONENT (followed by my quick comment): Light rail across the Columbia – voted down twice by Clark County residents Replace I-5 bridge – resuscitating the CRC with no additional lanes for auto traffic to relieve congestion Housing density – light rail in the middle of it all makes for an undesired downtown Vancouver Would have voted to raise current taxes – he thought Blom was right on taxes Promises to raise 2021 taxes – why punish our struggling families A Bernie Sanders-style Democrat – says he voted for Bernie Sanders in the WA Presidential Primary End fossil fuels now – we are blessed with the productivity of Bonneville Dam, but Clark Public Utilities still shows natural gas producing 1/3 of our electricity, so end that now and we do not have stable electricity; transportation (air, ship, truck) and much more now relies on fossil fuels. Code requiring all-electric homes now – more regulation : bigger government
QUALITY OF LIFE The issues above boil down to whether we will maintain our quality of life in Clark County. Along with my conservative values which provide a framework for decision making, these quality of life issues are part of the lens through which I evaluate future agenda items.
UPCOMING INTERVIEW Only a couple more public interviews remain before November 3. First is League of Women Voters on CVTV Wednesday Oct 14 at 6:30. Last is a BIA Forum on Wednesday Oct 21 at 6 pm.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU … To Daniel Weaver whose knowledge far exceeds keeping track of campaign funds in a timely way, to a trusted ability of taking in stride every little PDC requirement. If you are active in CCRCC, you know his stellar bio. I am so fortunate that he said “yes” to serving as Treasurer. To Mike Stupak, you have been amazing with manipulating data to get the exact mailer lists we were targeting. Thank you for giving of your talent to the conservative candidates. And to Mary Nevius, your skill with Joomla for the campaign website is a treasure, and you have endless creativity but also patience with me in designing our many PR pieces! And to Mary Olson who has a gift for campaigns and for editing my long-winded writing into succinct clarity!
With sincere thanks to each one of you receiving this update for all you are doing to help bring a conservative majority to Clark County!
