The campaign is over, so we have no more “campaign updates!” Thankfully my home will soon return to its normal state, recovering from piles of campaign materials taking over every room! But most importantly are the scores of precious memories that you have created in my mind’s eye. My hope for each of you is that you also sense the worth from bringing a conservative majority to the Clark County Council.
WHAT A WONDERFUL TEAM
With only 1,000 votes remaining to be counted county-wide, and a comfortable margin of 1,640 (51.45%), I now simply want to say “thank you” to voters of District 3 for your confidence in my representing you. I guarantee that I’ll work hard for the citizens of Clark County, so I am reminded of Teddy Roosevelt’s saying that the best prize life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing. With this position to begin January 1, 2021, work starts before officially beginning work! Please don’t be surprised if I call you to ask what you find most urgent to get accomplished because your responses give insight into upcoming agendas. I am excited to begin working for you and with you.
With sincere thanks to each one of you receiving this update for all you have done to help bring a conservative majority to Clark County! We did it!
There are important issues coming up before January 1 that I am not involved in this first round, ranging from additional new taxes (1% General Fund property tax + 1% Conservation Futures property tax + 1% Parks property tax + 1% Road Fund property tax + utilizing banked capacity to increase Road Fund property taxes), to possible adoption of the 2021 Budget at the November 17 Public Hearings, to fireworks’ sale and use in unincorporated areas being limited to those designated “safe and sane.” In the new year, permitting and code enforcement reform will be key to ensuring a robust economy; currently they are inconsistent and costly processes.
What’s on your mind as the most urgent County issues? Please let me know, and we’ll be in touch as soon as I’m on board.
Happy Veterans Day! We have 33,000 veterans in Clark County, and fully one-third of them with Vietnam era service.
